The low cost solution to the high cost of cancer

The Volunteer Corner

Join us in celebrating all that you do! Here at the volunteer corner we feature everyday people trying to make a difference in the world of cancer...maybe this might just inspire you! One tip in volunteering, find something that hits home for you, something that sparks the passion in you…maybe it’s not cancer, maybe it’s helping homeless people by volunteering at a shelter 1 hour a week. Whatever it is, helping someone, no matter how small, in their time of need is the best feeling in the world!

THE FAMILY THAT SHAVES TOGETHER, STAYS TOGETHER!

Sometimes starting can be the hardest thing of all. Most of us want to do something good like volunteer or give money but find ourselves stopped by a tight budget, work, family and Cancer Awareness Event what always leads to the amazing shrinking day!

The Gindroz Family decided to make giving a part of their family time, and I’m sure we all agree, family time is a must! Just think of it like a day at the park but with no hair! With events like this, sponsored by St. Baldricks, there was fun for all at the firemen training center, including activities for the kids, music and so much more!

When asked what the best part of their family day was Elizabeth had this to say, “To see my son up there, proud and fearless! It was just a great time for all of us, plus we did something good, raise money to help children with cancer.”

You just can’t go wrong with this type of quality family time, it’s free, and teaching children that giving is a part of life is a priceless lesson. So if you’re ready to take the hairless challenge visit www.stbaldricks.org for their next scheduled event. The money you raise will help medical research for children battling cancer, here’s their statement:

“St. Baldrick’s funds are granted to some of the most brilliant childhood cancer research experts in the world to find cures and improve the quality of life for patients and survivors. The Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.”
Also, Elizabeth donated her hair to www.locksoflove.org - they take the inches you donate (which have to be 10 or more)  and make wigs for children with cancer. All in all, we’ve learned from this family how to have a hair raising good time!
