Importance of Annual MammogramsWhy are regular pap tests so important: A woman that has regular pap smear tests is much more likely to catch cancer in its early state, the pre-cancerous tissue, and stopped from the beginning. Nearly 60 to 80 percent of newly diagnosed cervical cancer cases have been in women that haven’t had a pap test is over 5 years. Women at higher risks include: if you have more than one partner, smoke, became sexually active as a teen, have had an abnormal pap test before and have ever had HPV before. Ask your doctor for more information and set an appointment today.

To get a mammogram or not? There has been much controversy over what age to start getting mammograms. The American Cancer Society recommends women age 40 on up should start getting a mammogram once a year. If you have a family history of breast cancer you should start earlier – check with your doctor right away for the best approach. Also, remember self breast examinations are critical in between regular exams. For more information on free tests available in your areas call The American Cancer Society at 1-800-422-6237.

Annual Wellness Tests Are ImportantDetecting Colon Cancer Early Some people might have a misconception that this life saving test might hurt - this does not hurt due to medications to help you sleep through the 30 minute procedure. Put your mind at ease and ask your doctor is age 50 is the right time for you to get this and how does the procedure work. Nine out of ten that are diagnosed early are alive five years later and most living a normal life – this is a silent killer if not found early, don’t put this one off!
