Frequently Asked Questions

We try to anticipate questions you might have about cancer insurance and provide the answers here. If you need additional information call us at 866-614-3400.

1.

What is cancer insurance?

This is a supplemental health policy. It is not health insurance so the company will pay you, not the health care provider so you can use this money as you see fit. Get Your Online Cancer Insurance Quote!

2.

What is supplemental health insurance?

This type of insurance pays you set benefit amounts for events like surgery, medication, time away from work, etc. Also, these policies sometimes cover things that conventional health insurance do not like travel expenses for you and your family. Over 60% of the cost that occur while going through cancer treatment is not covered by traditional health insurance so supplemental policies like cancer insurance will help with the bills.

3.

How do I get paid in the event of a claim?

There are easy claim forms for your doctor's office to sign off on. The form then is faxed to the agent or the company direct. Once approved (approximately 15 days) then a check will arrive in your mail box made payable to the named insured (you).

4.

Do I have to take a medical exam to qualify?

No medical tests are required. Just four easy underwriting questions.

5.

What if my health insurance already covers me?

Health insurance will pay your doctor and/or medical facility for the test or procedure. The difference is we pay you no matter what your health insurance does, under the covered benefit. Example: A set benefit for chemotherapy at $300 per day.

6.

Does this just cover me for cancer?

No, there's coverage for accidents and any illness if you have the Intensive Care Unit rider. This will pay a maximum of $800 a day if for any reason (except for suicide or intentional acts) for being in the ICU unit for up to 45 days. This will also pay the cost of ambulance in conjuction with the ICU confinement.

7.

Do I have to go to certain "In Network" Providers?

No, you can go to what ever doctor or health care provider you want. There is no "in network" or "out of network" worries.

8.

If I currently have cancer can I get this policy?

No, unfortunately not. But if you've been cancer free for 5 or more years we can review for coverage.

9.

What are wellness benefits? Can everyone on my plan have this benefit?

Yes, each member on a family policy has the same wellness test benefits. Please see  for a list of the wellness tests. How this works is women get paid for 3 annual wellness tests, mammogram, pap & one other on the list, and men get paid for one like a PSA, colonoscopy, chest x-ray, etc.

10

How long can I keep my children covered on this policy?

Age 21 for non-students and age 25 for students.

*Some companies and plans will be different depending on the state you live in. Make sure to ask your agent about coverage details concerning your specific plan.
